I have always wanted to see the Tokyo Station.
From the Narita International Airport, you can take the train to Tokyo Station via Narita Express(NEX) Train.
When I first got to Japan, I wasn't really able to explore the Tokyo Station. (After 5 times in Japan, still haven't fully explored it yet). It was either we here just passing through from Kanda Station to Shibuya Station, or we were there to ride the NEX.
I have always wanted to see the outside of Tokyo Station, since, from what I know, it still resemble what it looked like 100+ years ago. Of course, only a part of it was preserved and its inside is as technologically advance as a train station can be.
But I love the styles of old buildings!
When I came back to Japan a few months after my first visit, I really wanted to take that chance to see the outside of it.
A close friend of mine worked in Tokyo at the time and she arranged for us to have lunch at Tokyo Station's Ramen Street. I was thinking of seeing the outside of Tokyo Station after getting some lunch. She told me that we'll meet at the Ramen Street.
Tokyo Station is HUGE, especially from the inside!
So I fired up my Google Maps and GPS to look for the Ramen Street. I kept going in and out of several exits, and there were MANY exits to Tokyo Station.
I honestly got frustrated at that time. I was tired and hungry and lost.
I was overwhelmed.
I exited my final exit gate as I convinced myself to take a short break from looking for the Ramen Street. I sat down in front of the exit and saw people taking pictures. I turned and saw it FINALLY!
The outside of the Tokyo Station, not the Ramen Street.
I was overwhelmed of a different reason. I felt like I went back in time while still being in the middle of the busy city of Tokyo. I was in awe.
I stayed staring at this for a couple of minutes too much and needless to say, I was late for lunch.
